Fiji: Water supply disruptions affecting parts of Suva and Nadi as of March 17
Municipal water supply disruptions affecting parts of Nadi and Suva, Fiji, as of March 17. Minimize nonessential water use.
Event
Water supply disruptions are occurring in parts of Nadi and Suva on Viti Levu as of March 17. The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has warned that low or no water pressure could affect multiple locations in both cities. In Nadi, WAF indicates that water shortages could impact the Northern Press, Goundar Road, parts of Queens Road, Kennedy Avenue, Nadi Bay Road areas, and parts of Martintar, Saunaka, Nakavu, Enamanu, and Nadi towns. The WAF has warned of shortages in central Suva and areas stretching northeastward of the city to Nasinu. The water authority has not specified when water supplies will resume but has advised residents to store at least 2-3 days of water. The WAF will provide water trucks to the affected areas.
The water outages may lead to business disruptions, particularly for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations.
Advice
Conserve water during the outage. Contact WAF to request water trucks. Stockpile water and use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Water quality after service resumes may be poor; run taps for several minutes before use.
