Netherlands: Flight disruptions likely at Amsterdam Schipol Airport through mid-July due to runway maintenance

Flight disruptions likely at Amsterdam Schipol Airport, Netherlands, through mid-July due to runway maintenance. Reconfirm flights.

Informational

Event

Flight disruptions are likely at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) due to runway closures for maintenance works through mid-July. The airport operates six runways; the Aalsmeerbaan and Buitenveldertbaan runways will be subject to closure until April 26. The Aalsmeerbaan runway will then be closed through mid-July.

Airlines may reduce the frequency of services or divert flights to other airports in response to reduced capacity at AMS. Localized ground transport disruptions may also occur near the airport due to increased movement of construction vehicles. It is also possible that maintenance work could extend beyond its scheduled completion time.

Advice

Confirm flight reservations at AMS before checking out of accommodation. Plan for possible flight delays and allow additional time to reach AMS.
