Informational

Event

Climate activists in the Netherlands plan to demonstrate outside six airports May 14 to demand a reduction in air travel to reduce the impact on the environment. The demonstrations will take place 11:00-14:00 outside the following airports:

  • Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)

  • Eindhoven Airport (EIN)

  • Groningen Airport Eelde (GRQ)

  • Lelystad Airport (LEY)

  • Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST)

  • Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM)

Additional security personnel will be deployed to monitor the actions. Organizers have stated they do not intend to block access to the airports, but the enhanced security measures in place because of the demonstrations could disrupt access to or services within the airports. The actions are likely to proceed peacefully.

Advice

Check for disruptions and allow additional time for travel in transiting through affected airports May 14. Do not check out of accommodation until onward travel is confirmed.
