As of early May 13, emergency crews are continuing their response to a strong explosion that occurred in central Karachi late the previous day. The blast, which reportedly took place near the United Bakery in the Saddar neighborhood's Lucky Star area, killed at least one person and injured nine others; the explosion also damaged several nearby cars and buildings. Casualty numbers could rise in the coming hours. The cause of the blast remains under investigation.

Authorities will maintain a tightened security posture near the scene of the incident probably into at least the early evening of May 13. Localized transport disruptions are likely.
