Informational

Event

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a 10-hour water supply outage in Colombo areas 12-15 from 22:00 May 21-08:00 May 22 due to maintenance work. Colombo areas 1 and 11 will experience low water supply pressure during this time.

Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Prolonged water supply disruptions are possible, particularly if the recovery works take longer than expected. While residents have relied on private water suppliers during previous water shortages, such services may be affected due to COVID-19 measures.

Advice

Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
