Informational

Event

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a supply outage in suburban Colombo 22:00 June 4-05:00 June 5 due to maintenance work. Affected areas include Sri Jayawardenepure Kotte, Mirihana, Madiwela, Nawala, and Nugegoda. Colombo areas 1-4, and 7-10, as well as Kaduwela, will experience a low-pressure water supply 21:00 June 4-06:00 June 5.

Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Prolonged water supply disruptions are possible, particularly if the recovery works take longer than expected. While residents have relied on private water suppliers during previous water shortages, increased demand and ongoing fuel shortages could limit availability.

Advice

Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
