Informational

Event

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a supply outage in parts of suburban Colombo, 22:00 June 25-08:00 June 26, due to maintenance work. Affected areas, including Ethul Kotte, Nawala, Nugegoda, Pagoda, and Pita Kotte under the Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Divisional Secretariat, will face outages and/or low-pressure water supply during this period.

Some business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations. Prolonged water supply disruptions could occur, particularly if recovery works take longer than expected. While residents have relied on private water suppliers during previous water shortages, increased demand and ongoing fuel shortages could limit availability.

Advice

Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
