Power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through Aug. 14 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:
Aug. 12: Outages will occur in Por Sen Chey, Kambol, and Chbar Ampov districts of Phnom Penh, as well as Kien Svay District, Kandal Province, 08:00-13:00. Disruptions are planned in Sen Sok, Por Sen Chey, and Russey Keo districts in Phnom Penh 08:00-16:00.
Aug. 13: Power disruptions will impact Chbar Ampov District 08:00-13:00. Disruptions are also planned in Sen Sok, Por Sen Chey, and Prek Pnov districts in Phnom Penh, 08:00-16:00.
Aug. 14: Scheduled cuts planned in Por Sen Chey District of Phnom Penh 08:00-13:00. Additional electricity disruptions will occur in Kambol and Por Sen Chey districts 08:00-16:00.
Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are possible in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and filling stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
Advice
Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are working, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
