Planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through Sept. 4 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:
Sept. 2: Outages will occur in Sen Sok, Mean Chey, Tuol Kouk, and Boeung Keng Kang districts of Phnom Penh 08:00-16:00.
Sept. 3: Power disruptions will impact Russey Keo, Pou Senchey, and Sen Sok districts in Phnom Penh 08:00-13:00. Disruptions are also planned in Leuk Dek District, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.
Sept. 4: Electricity disruptions will occur in the Sen Sok District of Phnom Penh 08:00-13:00. Outages are also planned in Takhmao City, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.
Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored.
