Demonstrators opposing Mayor William Dau are blocking traffic in multiple areas of Cartagena Sept. 22; traffic disruptions have been reported throughout the city's Centro Historico area. Protesters have blocked Avenida Pedro de Heredia, the city's main avenue, near Bomba El Amparo. Demonstrators have also gathered in La Heroica, in the Policarpa neighborhood, and in the Manga and Mamonal areas.

Heightened security and localized business and transport disruptions are likely near all protest sites. Confrontations between protesters and the security forces are possible if demonstrators are overly disruptive, ignore police orders to disperse or engage in acts of public violence.
