Planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through Oct. 2 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:
Sept. 30: Disruptions will occur in the Preaek Phnov District of Phnom Penh and Ponhea Leu District, Kandal Province, 08:00-13:00. Outages are further planned in the Pou Senchey District of Phnom Penh, as well as Angk Snuol, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.
Oct. 1: Power disruptions will impact Russey Keo District in Phnom Penh, 08:00-13:00. Disruptions are also planned in Pou Senchey District 08:00-16:00.
Oct. 2: Electricity disruptions will occur in Pou Senchey and Kamboul districts, 08:00-13:00.
Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
Advice
Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
