Warning

Event

The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) party will rally in multiple locations across the country Oct. 11-14 to mobilize political support ahead of by-elections slated to take place Oct. 16. Former Prime Minister and PTI party leader Imran Khan will address several gatherings. Organizers have announced that rallies will take place according to the following schedule:

Oct. 11: Nankana Sahib District, Punjab Province

Oct. 12: Sharaqpur town, Sheikhupura District, Punjab Province

Oct. 13: Kurram District and Takht Bhai Ground in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province

Oct. 14: Karachi, Sindh Province

Additional gatherings are possible nationwide, especially near government buildings and political party offices as well as at major intersections and public squares. Delays in the by-election process may lead to further unrest. The largest gatherings will likely draw thousands of participants.

Authorities will likely tighten security near all rallies and may attempt to disperse particularly disruptive gatherings. Clashes between activists and police are possible. Demonstrators may march along and/or block roadways, prompting localized transport disruptions.

Advice

Avoid all rallies due to possible clashes. If clashes break out, leave the area immediately. Follow all security personnel instructions. Do not attempt to cross any roadblocks, as rally participants may react violently. Allow additional travel time near related gatherings.
