Switzerland: Swiss International Air Line pilots threaten to strike, Oct. 17

Swiss International Air Lines pilots in Switzerland have threatened to embark on a strike Oct. 17. Reconfirm flights.

Informational

Event

Swiss International Air Lines or SWISS (LX) pilots represented by the Aeropers union have threatened to embark on a strike from Oct. 17 if their demands for better working conditions and pay are not met. Negotiations are still ongoing, and an agreement could be reached before the strike date.

Should the strike proceed, increased demand for available alternative flights are likely. Aeropers could plan additional labor action in the coming weeks if an agreement is not reached. Pilots could also stage pickets ahead of or during any possible strike action. These are likely to occur near airline company headquarters. Significant disruptions are unlikely.

Advice

Reconfirm all Swiss International Air Lines flights scheduled for Oct. 17. Prepare for increased demand for available flights.
