Authorities are planning to defuse an unexploded WWII-era bomb discovered in the Hamburg, Oct. 17. The 250-kg device was discovered during dredging operations in the Veddler Damm and Kleiner Glasbrook area of the port. Authorities have established a 300-meter (0.2-mile) evacuation radius from the bomb, instructing personnel to leave the area. Anyone inside a 500-meter (0.3-mile) radius must remain indoors. Local roads will also be affected. The bomb will be deactivated once the area has been cleared.

Police will likely implement road diversions near the affected area, causing increased traffic congestion. Officials did not immediately provide a specific time for when the disposal operation will conclude.
