Activists affiliated with the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) party will protest across Karachi, Sindh Province, Oct. 20 to denounce the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) postponement of the upcoming municipal election. Organizers have as yet announced no time or location details concerning specific gatherings; however, typical demonstration sites include the ECP office, as well as prominent government buildings, public squares, press clubs, and intersections. The demonstrations could be well attended; other opposition parties may either join the JI's rallies or stage their own protests in Karachi.

Authorities will likely monitor any rallies and may attempt to disperse especially disruptive gatherings. Clashes between protesters and police, as well as counterdemonstrators, are possible.
