Philippines: Mactan-Cebu International Airport partially resumes flight operations as of Oct. 25 /update 3

Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Philippines partially resumes flights as of Oct. 25. Limited operations likely through Nov. 8

Warning

Event

Officials have partially resumed flights Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) as of Oct. 25. Flight operations at the airport will be allowed daily from 05:00-17:00 daily through Nov. 8.

Authorities previously suspended domestic and international flights at the airport after Korean Air (KE) 631 overshot the runway amid heavy rain and poor visibility Oct. 23. Reports indicate that the suspension caused hundreds of passengers to be stranded at the airport. Authorities at CEB diverted several flights to other airports in the region due to the incident. Officials stated that full operations will resume once the airport removes the plane and repair the runway.

Further flight delays and cancelations are possible through Nov. 8. Delays in moving the plane and extended flight disruptions are possible.

Advice

Confirm flights if planning travel or route air freight through CEB through at least Nov. 8. Do not check out accommodations until verifying onward travel. Consider using alternative regional airports and ferry services for time-sensitive travel to or from Cebu.
