A police investigation into the death of a US national in Las Terrenas is ongoing as of Oct. 30. The victim died during a suspected home invasion Oct. 26. Police discovered the victim's body in his home in the evening; the assailants apparently beat him to death earlier. The suspects left with a number of valuables, the likely motivation for the attack.

Las Terranas is approximately 98 km (61 miles) north-northeast of Santo Domingo.
