Warning

Event

Public healthcare workers affiliated with the Grand Health Alliance continue to strike and protest in parts of Sindh Province as of Nov. 9 to demand several concessions, including the restoration of a health risk allowance. On Nov. 8, striking workers gathered outside the Sindh Secretariat building and Coast Guard office, in addition to staging a sit-in near the Karachi Press Club. The work stoppage will continue to impact health services at government clinics and hospitals. Increased demand could potentially disrupt services at private facilities.

Additional related protests remain possible near public hospitals, public squares, and government buildings across Sindh. Security forces will likely monitor any demonstrations and may attempt to disperse especially disruptive gatherings. Clashes between police and striking workers are possible. Localized transport and business disruptions are possible.

Advice

Avoid all demonstrations as a precaution. Leave the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Confirm all appointments at public medical facilities for the duration of the work stoppage. Allow additional time for travel near potential gathering sites, including public hospitals and government buildings.
