Heightened security is likely in the vicinity Norte de Santander Department after gunmen burned several trucks transporting goods Nov. 21. The incident reportedly occurred around 15:30 at a section of National Highway 70 called La Curva, in Bucarasica jurisdiction. The National Highway Institute (Invias) has closed the route which connects the departmental capital of Cucuta, Ocana, and the Colombian Caribbean coast. Security forces have been deployed to the area, and officials have asked drivers to seek alternative routes.

Officials have not confirmed the reason for the arson attack, although unconfirmed reports have attributed it to members of the National Liberation Army (Ejercito del Liberacion Nacional, ELN), which is known to be active in the area.
