Heightened tribal tensions are likely in South Darfur State over the near term after clashes between rival tribes in the Beleil locality left at least eleven people dead, and 10 others wounded Dec. 21-23. The fighting reportedly broke out over a sheep theft incident. Troops were deployed to the area following the clashes.
Increased security measures are likely over the short term. Additional tribal clashes are possible in the area over the coming days and weeks.
