Event

A demonstration by activists from the People's Democratic Congress (HDK) is underway in front of the French Consulate, on Istiklal Caddessi, in Istanbul Dec. 26. The action is to condemn the murder of three Kurdish people in Paris, France, Dec. 23. Authorities have deployed police to monitor the event. There have been no reports of violence.

Large crowds and related security measures will likely cause localized traffic and public transportation disruptions. The demonstration will probably remain largely peaceful; however, confrontations with police cannot be ruled out.
