Planned power outages will continue in parts of Phnom Penh and surrounding areas through Jan. 29 due to maintenance work. Utility provider Electricite du Cambodge has announced outages on the following days:
Jan. 27: Outages will occur in Boeng Keng Kang, Chbar Ampov, Chamkar Mon, Daun Penh, Kamboul, and Tuol Kork districts of Phnom Penh, as well as Angk Snuol and Ta Khmau, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.
Jan. 28: Electricity disruptions planned in Sen Sok District 08:00-13:00. Further planned outages will take place in Chbar Ampov, Kamboul, Pou Senchey, and Prek Pnov districts 08:00-16:00.
Jan. 29: Planned disruptions to occur in Chamkar Mon, Dangkao, Daun Penh, Mean Chey, Pou Senchey, and Sen Sok districts of Phnom Penh, as well as Ta Khmau, Kandal Province, 08:00-16:00.
Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.

Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
