Taxi drivers are protesting and causing significant traffic disruptions in Cali early Jan. 27. Protesters are blocking a section of Avenida Roosevelt between Carrera 42 and 44. A few skirmishes have been reported early Jan. 27. Protesting taxi drivers are demanding several concessions from local and regional authorities, including more regulations for app-based private transportation services.

Transport disruptions are also likely in other parts of Cali until at least late Jan. 27. Disruptions along roads leading to Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport (CLO) are also possible. Heightened security and clashes may occur, especially if protests disrupt traffic along main roads. Activists may continue their protest actions in the coming days.
