Informational

Event

Water supply disruptions are affecting parts of Lami and Suva as of Feb. 2. The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) suspended the water supply due to high turbidity levels at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant; affected locations include Beniveli, Deoji Street, Forestry Quarters, Jeremaia College, Kikau, Muaivuso, Nabaka, Namakala, Naisogo Sawani Hill, Osonabukete, parts of Princes Road, Savutalele, Uluibeka, Tamavua Village, Upper Bureta, Upper Lakeba, Vunikawai, and Waiqanake. WAF has not specified when water services will resume.

Business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water to maintain operations.

Advice

Conserve water during the outage. Contact WAF to request water trucks. Stockpile water and use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Water quality after service resumes may be poor; run taps for several minutes before use.
