Informational

Event

The Cameroon Workers Forum (CAWOF), representing various unions, has called on all public and private employees to strike on Mondays Feb. 15-March 15. The purpose of the action is to demand salary increases, among other demands, amid hikes in prices. It is unclear how many employees may adhere to the work stoppage. Unless averted, the strike could disrupt transport and other services, as well as business operations.

Related protests are possible in the vicinity of government buildings and universities, particularly in urban centers such as Yaounde and Douala. Heightened security and localized traffic disruptions are likely near any protests that materialize. Clashes may also occur if protesters are overly disruptive or are forcibly dispersed.

Advice

Monitor local media for updated information. Avoid all protests to mitigate associated disruptions. Confirm all ground transport services, as well as private and public meetings on strike days. Abide by all official directives.
