Authorities to increase security in Neiva, Huila Department, in preparation for planned protests and rallies Feb. 12-14. The purpose of the events remains unclear as of yet; however, the demonstrations will occur amid plans by supporters of President Gustavo Petro's administration to hold rallies in multiple locations across the country Feb. 14. Officials announced several increased security measures beginning 00:01 Feb. 12, including the prohibition of hoods and mask, use of dump trucks, and restrictions to the carry of firearms; the security measures will be effective until 18:00 Feb. 14.
Thousands are likely to participate in the rallies and protests in Neiva. The increased security measures will almost certainly prompt disruptions to transport and businesses.
