Residents reportedly demand that the local mayor resigns over recurring water shortages, high water and electricity bills, and load-shedding. Protesters have gathered at Seshego Circle Center. They will reportedly march towards the Premier’s office, the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), Eskom Limpopo, the Polokwane Municipality, and the African National Congress’ provincial offices.
Heightened security is likely in the area in the coming hours. Road travel disruptions will likely occur near protest routes, especially along the N1 and Nelson Mandela Drive. Clashes between protesters and the police are possible if demonstrators ignore police orders to disperse or engage in acts of public violence.
