Informational

Event

Environmental activists organized under the banner of La Marche Bleue (The Blue March) plan to march from Geneva to Bern from April 1-22 to demand that the Swiss government abide by the Paris Agreement. The march will start at Place des Nations in Geneva at 10:30 before passing through multiple cities. The march will end in Bern on April 22. A final gathering is scheduled at Place Federale or Bundesplatz in Bern at 13:00. The full event schedule is available by clicking here.

The march may cause some short-term localized road travel disruptions. Crowd sizes are likely to vary, with the largest turnouts likely for the start and end of the protest march. Security personnel will likely deploy to monitor the march, particularly on approach to and in large cities, such as Geneva, Lausanne, and Bern. Violence is unlikely.

Advice

Plan for some localized road travel delays near the march route, particularly during the start and end of the event. Heed the instructions of local officials. Reconfirm the status of road routes before departure.
