Crisis24 personnel quickly sprang to action when the first calls for support came into our global operations center. Reports from our intelligence analysts had been indicating that a strike against government economic policies by the indigenous people of Ecuador was turning into protests provoking violence and civil unrest. Several clients, including corporations, universities, and NGOs with team members in Quito, Ecuador, and surrounding areas, needed prompt emergency assistance.
Multiple groups from various organizations across the country encountered physical roadblocks on significant roadways, protestors clashing with security forces, and little to no airport access. With the fear of provisions running out and difficulty getting out of the country rising, tension mounted as each day passed. Crisis24 teams worked in tandem to field calls for assistance, coordinate with insurers, create operations plans, facilitate support, and conduct evacuations. Relying on the benefits of our mobile app and other tools – including real-time alert notification, two-way communication, and location sharing, Crisis24 team members were able to send the latest updates on the situation, conduct welfare checks, gather pertinent information, communicate plans, and determine appropriate meeting places for evacuation.
Over ten days, Crisis24 personnel safely evacuated 68 people from four locations, coordinating five different missions using a combination of secure ground transport, fixed-wing aircraft, and helicopters.
