Shots fired during ID checks in Munich subway station June 13; subway traffic suspended

A police officer is in a critical condition having been shot in the head, after a man grabbed her service pistol and opened fire in Munich’s Unterföhring subway station on the morning of Tuesday, June 13. According to the police the situation has been brought under control. The incident is not being treated as a terrorist incident, and is believed to have been motivated by personal reasons.

The station has been evacuated as a precaution and trains have been temporarily halted on the line. It is unclear when traffic will resume.
