Strike on line B of Buenos Aires metro (subte) to continue for second day December 29; unclear when strike will end and normal service will resume

No services are expected to run on line B of the Buenos Aires metro (subte) on Friday, December 29, due to an indefinite strike launched the day prior. The strike is estimated to affect some 334,000 daily passengers who ride on the line. Increased crowding on bus services, road traffic congestion, and demand for taxis is to be anticipated as commuters are forced to use alternate modes of transportation.
Context
The AGTSyP union (Asociación Gremial de los Trabajadores de Subte y Premetro) launched the strike on Thursday after Metrovías, the company that operates the Buenos Aires metro, allegedly intended to fire an employee who has a disabled child. AGTSyP also cited other grievances against Metrovías, including Metrovías's alleged anti-union actions, arbitrary penalties given to workers, and alleged pressure on certain workers to resign.
