Disruptions on National Railway Express line between Neuss and Krefeld due to repairs and accident investigation December 6; confirm travel status

According to a statement released by a spokesperson for the National Railway Express Germany on Wednesday, December 6, a section of track near Meersbusch on the Cologne-Krefeld line will remain closed in both directions for several days following an accident that occurred on Wednesday, December 5.
As of December 6, all rail service between Neuss and Krefeld has been canceled until further notice. Service on the RE 7 line will start and end at Neuss Central Station. Hourly bus service will replace rail service between Krefeld and Neuss, with a stop in Meerbusch. Detailed information on service disruptions is available here.
Context
On December 5, at around 19:30 (local time), a passenger train collided with a freight train near Meerbusch. According to police, 48 people were injured, including seven with serious injuries. An official inquiry into the accident has been opened by Germany authorities, and crews are working to complete repairs and return the line to service.
