China: Nationwide truck driver strike ongoing

An indefinite strike by truck drivers across the country continues as of Monday, June 11, to demand a reduction in fuel and toll prices and better working conditions (e.g. the cessation of harassment by the police). The strike was launched on June 8 in the provinces of Jiangxi and Shandong, before spreading to Anhui, Guizhou, Hubei, and Zhejiang provinces, as well as Chongqing and Shanghai municipalities. Truck drivers are reportedly gathering on highways, causing significant traffic congestion and delaying goods deliveries. Protests have also occurred in Qingdao (Shandong province).
