Greece: 5.5 magnitude earthquake in Peloponnese June 25

In the early morning of Monday, June 25, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake was reported in the southern Peloponnese, 26 km (16 mi) west of Methoni. No tsunami alert has been issued. No major damage or injuries have thus far been reported. Aftershocks are likely in the coming hours and days.

In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves as much as possible from falling debris if indoors (under a table, under a door frame, in a small bathroom, etc.), to move away from windows, and to not attempt to leave the building unless there is an immediate danger to their life. If outdoors, move away from tall buildings, utility wires, streetlights, etc. After a major earthquake, check buildings for damages, including downed power lines or damaged gas lines.
