Netherlands: Car ramming at newspaper HQ in Amsterdam June 26

Event

A van was driven into the headquarters of a Dutch newspaper in Amsterdam early on Tuesday, June 26, sparking a fire. No one was injured in the incident, which police was a deliberate act. The driver of the van fled the scene accompanied by an accomplice; neither have been apprehended. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Context

Tuesday’s incident follows a June 21 grenade attack carried out against an office building home to the headquarters of several magazines in Amsterdam; no injuries were reported in that incident either. One suspect, believed to be a leader of a motorcycle gang, has been detained.
