Armenia will celebrate its 27th Independence Day on Friday, September 21, with commemorative events to take place nationwide. The largest events will be held in the capital of Yerevan, where celebrations will begin in Republic Square starting at 12:00 (local time). A parade of bands will march around the city from Freedom Square beginning at 13:00. Police officials announced that the city’s downtown area will be closed to traffic for most of the day.
