Three explosions were reported in downtown Mogadishu on the afternoon (local time) of Friday, November 9. According to local sources, the suspected vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED) detonated between 16:25 and 16:45 in the K4 area of the city between the Sahafi Hotel and the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) headquarters. Small arms fire was subsequently reported around the blast sites. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack. Details are still emerging.
