Armenia: Further protests over the presence of a Russian military base possible

Further protests are possible in the capital Yerevan and other provinces in the coming days, either in favor or against the presence of a Russian military base in Gyumri (Shirak province). Localized transportation disruptions, along with a heightened security presence, can be expected near any demonstration. Clashes among participants, or between participants and police forces cannot be ruled out.

Context

Related demonstrations took place in front of the Russian Embassy in Yerevan on December 25, one requesting the base's removal, and the other that it remains.
