Protests broke out in Zvartnots near Yerevan on Friday, January 11, to denounce the release on bail of former defense minister, Manvel Grigoryan, who was briefly arrested on corruption charges and illegal possession of a firearm on December 21. Protesters reportedly blocked several roads leading to Zvartnots International Airport (EVN), causing severe traffic disruptions in the area. Further associated demonstrations are possible in the near term.
