Bangladesh: Ridesharing app launched in Dhaka January 31

On Thursday, January 31, a new multi-passenger and multi-destination ridesharing app called 'Buddy' was launched in the capital Dhaka. The service consist in microbuses leaving from Dhanmondi, Mirpur-1 and Uttara, with six to ten passengers allowed at one time.

Context

The Dhaka region, the largest urban and demographic centre in Bangladesh, is home to about 20 million people. For years, travels within the capital were difficult due to significant traffic jams and hazardous driving conditions.
