Sierra Leone: Opposition supporters clash with police in Freetown May 31

Clashes between police and protesters have been reported in the capital Freetown on Friday, May 31, as crowds gathered to denounce the nullification of some election results. Supporters of the All Peoples Congress (APC) rallied outside the party's headquarters on Friday afternoon (local time) following a court decision to nullify election results of 16 parliamentary seats won by the APC. According to local sources, security forces reportedly deployed tear gas in an attempt to disperse protesters who erected barricades in the city center. 

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected in the affected area over the coming hours.
