Heavy rains caused significant flooding in Dhaka on Friday, July 12, which led to heavy gridlock and several public transportation disruptions. Several major roads were inundated, including Mirpur Road, Nayapaltan, Green Road, Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue and Motijheel Road as a total of 44 mm (1.7 in) of rain fell between 12:00 (local time) and 14:00.

Associated transportation and commercial disruptions are to be expected across Dhaka in the coming hours and days.

Individuals in Dhaka are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions prior to setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. It is important to note that that walking or driving through floodwaters can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
