Colombia: National mobilization scheduled for July 26

A national mobilization to protest murders of human rights leaders scheduled July 26; transportation disruptions expected

A national mobilization has been called to protest the targeted murders of social and human rights leaders in Colombia. The protest, under the title "Defendamos la Paz" (defend peace), will take place in 28? cities, notably in Bogota, Medellin, and Cali.

In Bogota, the event will begin at 17:00 (local time) at the Peace and Reconciliation Center and will proceed to the Plaza de Bolívar.

In Medellin, protesters will gather at 16:00 at the Museo Centro de la Memoria (Parque Bicentenario).

In Cali, the protest will begin at 17:00 at the Plantón en Plazoleta San Francisco.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions should be expected surrounding all protests. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.
