Protest and police presence reported at the National Assembly in Yerevan on August 19; transportation disruptions reported

Protesters gathered at the National Assembly on Monday, August 19, to denounce the operation of the Amulsar gold mine. Road blockades on Marshal Baghramyan Avenue have been reported, as well as police presence at the scene of the protest. Reports indicate that police have arrested six people in connection to the protests.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected in Yerevan over the coming hours.
