Protests to support Franco’s remains be exhumed scheduled in Madrid on September 24; transportation disruptions expected

The collective Ni Valle Ni Almudena has scheduled a demonstration in Madrid for Tuesday, September 24, to support a call to exhume former dictator Francisco Franco's remains from the Cuelgamuros Basilica at the Valley of the Fallen. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hold a vote for the decision on the same date at 10:00 (local time) and the group is scheduled to gather at 11:00.

Transportation disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of the Supreme Court. A heightened security presence is possible.

Context

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced a request to exhume the former dictator's remains in 2018 with the intension of removing his remains from the Valley of the Fallen.
