Warning

Event

On Wednesday, November 20, the Irish Meteorological Service issued yellow and orange weather warnings for several counties across Ireland in anticipation of heavy rainfall and flooding over the coming days. An orange warning is in effect in Tipperary and Waterford counties until 18:00 (local time) on Thursday, November 21. A yellow warning has been issued for Kilkenny, Wexford, and Cork counties and will also remain in effect until Thursday evening. Heavy rainfall is forecast to continue across southern Ireland through Sunday, November 24. Updated information on weather warnings can be found on the Irish Meteorological Service website here.

Associated disruptions to transportation and business are to be expected in affected areas over the coming days.

Advice

Individuals in southern Ireland are advised to monitor local weather reports, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, confirm road conditions before setting out, and anticipate disruptions to transportation and business in flood-affected areas. Remember than running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and never drive through flooded streets; floodwater may also contain wastewater and chemical products.
