The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 5.7-magnitude earthquake approximately 13 km (8 mi) south-southeast of Paramythia on the early morning hours (local time) of Friday, March 21. According to initial reports, the quake hit at a depth of 10 km (6 mi) at about 02:49. There were no immediate reports of damages.
Aftershocks are possible over the coming hours.
