Emerging reports of IED blast in the vicinity of Beerta Market (Waberi district) in Mogadishu on August 12; heightened security presence to be expected

Emerging reports indicate that an improvised explosive device (IED) has been detonated in the Waberi district of Mogadishu at approximately 19:25 (local time) on Wednesday, August 12. The attack reportedly occurred in the vicinity of the Beerta Market. At least one person was killed and another injured. The intended target and perpetrator are yet to be confirmed.

Localized disruptions are likely in the area in the near term due to ongoing security response and clean-up operations.
