Warning

Event

Labour unions and civil society organizations are scheduled to demonstrate in Thessaloniki (Central Macedonia region) on Saturday, September 5, to protest over socio-economic issues. The protests, which are held annually to run alongside the Thessaloniki International Fair, will reportedly go ahead despite the fact that the fair has been canceled due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Participants are expected to gather at Kamara from 18:00 (local time).

A heightened security presence is to be anticipated in the vicinity of protest sites, along with disruptions to overland travel.

Advice

Those in Thessaloniki are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transportation disruptions, and avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution.
