Authorities plan to conduct disposal operations for an unexploded World War II-era bomb near Saonestrasse 8 in Niedarrad, Frankfurt, from 1100 CET Feb. 21. An evacuation order is in place for residents in the affected area beginning 0800 CET. Officials say disposal operations may continue through the evening of Feb. 21.

Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely in the affected area. Officials have rerouted tram and bus services in the area and canceled several long-distance and intercity (ICE) train services at Frankfurt Station to facilitate disposal operations. Operations at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) remain normal.

Advice

Avoid the area until authorities give the all-clear. Heed official instructions. Reconfirm transport arrangements and allow additional time to reach destinations in the city through at least the evening of Feb. 21.
